Garage Porch Addition
Garage Porch Addition
From concept to completion. Client wanted a covered porch added to this small garage/workshop. It is now a fantastic place to sit and watch the deer and elk. Collaboration with R. K. Stewart & Son Construction in Garden Valley, Idaho.

Redwood Deck
My largest and most complex deck to date. This 25'x80' redwood behemoth wasn't just hugely challenging, but hugely rewarding as well. I milled all the curved railings from larger pieces of wood: the 2x6 caps from 2x12 lumber, and the 2x4 rails from 4x6 stock. Also, all the railings are pocket screwed from the bottom or outer sides so that no fasteners are visible from the deck. From design to staining, the project took nearly 3 months not including weather delays.

Hot Tub Deck
Hot Tub Deck
I designed and built this Trex deck one step down from the existing deck. Hot tub sits about halfway down, making it very easy to step in and out of. Client will be adding a stainless steel cable railing himself.
Backyard Boardwalk and Bridge
Backyard Boardwalk and Bridge
Replaced this little boardwalk that covers the irrigation channel that runs from the front yard to the back. View of section by gate to back yard.
View toward back yard.
View toward front yard.
Rebuilt this little "bridge" coming off the back screen porch. Replaced frame, decking, and most of the lattice. Added safety tread.
RV Park Cabin Addition
RV Park Cabin Addition
The Manager of our home park in Boise pulled me aside one day and said "I've got a hare-brained idea. Can you add a bedroom to this cabin and make it look like a tent-trailer?" I said "Sure! I like that hare-brained idea." Cut a hole in the back wall of the cabin with a chain saw, put in a few days' worth of work and voila!
Laundry Room Floor

My Folks' House
My fondest memories are working with my Dad. Here are some things we've done together.
My Folks' House
My fondest memories are working with my Dad. Here are some things we've done together.
Mom has been wanting this gate for 25 years. We finally got it built.
Dad and I hand-forged this breakfast table from 1-1/4" and 7/8' solid round stock. Our neighbor did all the granite.
Floating out the heated kitchen floor.
Kitchen floor almost done.
Here's Dad & I in front of the fireplace. Originally adobe slump brick, we covered it with faux river rock, built the mantle out of steel tubing I found in the back yard, and poured the curved concrete hearth.
Laying the solid hand-scraped teak floor in the living room.
Here's the living room all finished!
View of the front of the house. Of course we did all the landscaping. Also replaced the front door, windows, siding, trim, and the roof.
